5,000 strong, one voice: Rivers youths ignite a New Political Dawn with historic Rescue Rivers Victory Walk

Rivers State witnessed a defining political moment as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Rivers State Youth Wing successfully concluded the landmark 5,000 Man Rescue Rivers Victory Walk, a peaceful yet powerful show of unity that signaled a generational shift in the state’s political consciousness.

In an unprecedented development, thousands of young people converged not merely to march, but to make history; pooling their own resources, organizing themselves, and taking collective responsibility for a cause bigger than partisan loyalty. It was the first time in the state’s political history that youths demonstrated such financial commitment and organizational discipline toward a shared vision, underscoring a bold new era driven by accountability, unity, and purpose.

The march sent a thunderous message across Rivers State: the youths are done with bad governance, fed up with unemployment and shrinking opportunities, and resolute in their rejection of electoral malpractice. With one voice, they demanded a system that works for the people, one anchored on fairness, transparency, and inclusive development.

More than a protest, the Rescue Rivers Victory Walk was a declaration. Rivers youths made it clear that they are no longer content to be spectators waiting for tomorrow. They are leaders of today, capable, prepared, and mature enough to assume leadership and electoral responsibilities. Their call for inclusion in governance, they insisted, is not a favour to be granted but a necessity for sustainable progress.

The ADC Rivers State Youth Wing expressed deep appreciation to its members who turned out en masse and contributed financially to ensure the success of the march. Special commendation was also extended to the party’s executives at state, local government, and ward levels across the 23 LGAs, as well as the Rivers East, Rivers South East, and Rivers West Youth Wing Coordinators, whose tireless mobilization powered the movement.

Gratitude was further conveyed to the leadership of the African Democratic Congress for their unwavering support, including the State Chairman, Chief Amb. Leader Sampson; the Woman Leader, Rt. Hon. Irene K. Jumbo; ADC House of Assembly Candidate for Khana Constituency 2, Barr. Juliet; the House of Assembly Member representing Ahoada East Constituency 2, Engr. Joram; and other party leaders whose guidance strengthened the resolve of the youths.

The success of the 5,000 Man Rescue Rivers Victory Walk stands as compelling proof that when young people unite with clarity of purpose, positive change becomes inevitable. With this momentum, the Rescue Rivers movement has not only begun, it has announced itself as a force determined to build a Rivers State that truly works for all.
