In line with its determination not to allow the effect of the Corona virus pandemic hinder the Okowa Administration from delivering on its mandate to Deltans, the Commissioner for Health has commenced monitoring visits to projects embarked on by his Ministry with the view to getting them completed in good time.
The Delta State Commissioner for Health Dr. Mordi Ononye in company of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. (Mrs.) Minnie Oseji and top officials in the Ministry visited projects sited in Ika South and North East Local Government Areas.
At the Trauma Centre, Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area the Commissioner who commended work done so far said “comparing what I am seeing now with what was on ground during my last visit, I can see that much has been achieved”.
According to the Commissioner, the project which is to deliver a first class Trauma Centre has the following sections: main building, guest house, staff quarters, canteen, toilet block, crèche, morgue, among others.
The contractor N.D.N. (Nig.) Company handling the project assured the Commissioner and his team that they will deliver the job on or before June, 2021.
Dr. Ononye also visited the Advanced Diagnostic Medical Centre and Mother and Child Centre both at Owa-Alero in Ika North East Local Government Area where he expressed satisfaction at the progress of work on site.
He urged the Contractor (NJZC International Construction Limited / Sinoma Investment International) handling both projects to keep up the pace of work to enable them achieve the delivery date of February, 2021.
Also the Commissioner inspected the on-going work at the Government Hospital Owa-Alero in Ika North East Local Government Area.
Dr. Ononye who was visible happy with the clean environment in the hospital premises commended the Medical Director (MD) and urged her to sustain the clean environment.
He expressed satisfaction at the level and quality of work done so far by the contractor and urged them not to relent until the work is fully delivered. He directed the MD to make sure that the mortuary is put to use before the end of the month.
The Commissioner was conducted round the projects under construction by the MD of the hospital Dr. (Mrs.) Ejiro Osama. The projects included the female ward, children ward, the amenity ward and the mortuary.
The Team rounded off the monitoring visit at the Owa Alizemor Primary Healthcare Centre, Ika North East Local Government Area.
