Residents of Friday Moses, Theotus and Otutu Streets, situated on Owa-Ekei-Owa-Alero Road, Boji-Boji Owa, have cried out over estimated billing, inadequate electricity power supplies, deplorable state of roads and other infrastructural development deficit in their area.
Speaking to newsmen, some residents of the area, Elder Theophilus Tukele, Mr Chukwuka Ehikwe and Monday Okpokor, said that the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), was not supplying electricity to their areas, yet the staffers keep bringing them estimated bills.
They noted that for the past three months, they had not experienced electricity supplied by the BEDC but that it kept on bringing to them estimated billing, adding that officials of the company did so with impunity, threatening to disconnect them and others.
Speaking further, the landlords emphasised that they were fully ready to cooperate with the BEDC staff by paying their bills as and when due only if BEDC starts giving them steady power supply and desist from their issuing estimated billing.
“It is always painful and aggressive when others are enjoying electricity light but you are not and also that it is annoying for BEDC to be coming to collect money for jobs not properly done,” they stated.
Continuing, they however, commended the State Government led by Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa for her good works in the state, urging the governor to personally visit their streets to enable him see for himself and get full details of what they were crying out about.
They appealed to the governor to come to their aid in the areas of electricity power supplies and provision of good roads and pledged to remain supportive of his administration.
