Delta Police Command bans illegal use of siren, tinted glasses, govt plate numbers

The Delta state Police command has declared illegal unauthorized use of siren cross the state and therefore banned such use.

The Command has also banned the indiscriminate and unathorised use of revolving light, vehicles with tinted glasses, the covering of vehicle plate number, the use of government plate number for private and unathorised vehicles.

A statement by the Command signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya stated that “Officers of the Command on patrol duties have been given matching order to stop and thoroughly check these vehicles and impound any of them that violates these laws.”

The statement reads:
“The Commissioner of Police Delta State Command, CP Ari Muhammed Ali FCIA, Psc+ sequel to the prevailing security situation in the Command and in a bid to serve the good people of the state better and reduce crime to the barest minimum, have placed ban on indiscriminate and unauthorized use of siren, vehicles with tinted glasses, covering of vehicle plate numbers, illegal SPY plate numbers, and revolving light by unauthorized persons and using government plate numbers for private and unauthorized vehicles in line with existing law prohibiting the use of vehicles with tinted glasses. Reference to motor vehicle (prohibition of tinted glass) Act Cap M21 Sec 1 sub Sec. A. laws of the Federation of Nigeria which is very relevant till date.

“Officers of the Command on patrol duties have been given matching order to stop and thoroughly check these vehicles and impound any of them that violates these laws. Those operating vehicles with factory fitted tinted glasses with permit for a good cause, must be able to show proof.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Mohammed Ali FCIA, Psc+ solicits the understanding of all in this regards while assuring Deltans and the general public of his commitment to their safety and security at all times.”
