Chief Christopher Ogwu, the Iyase of Idumuje-Ugboko.
The Iyase of Idumuje-Ugboko, Chief Christopher Ogwu today declared that there is only one authentic and recognized monarch in the community, and he is His Royal Majesty, Obi Solomon Eziokwubundu Nwabuokei Nwoko.
Chief Ogwu, who is the traditional prime Minister of the kingdom spoke on telephone to debunk a news report that insinuated that there are two kings in the kingdom. He told banneronlinenews.com saying: “There are no two kings in Idumuje-Ugboko; there’s only one, authentic and recognized by the Idumuje-Ugboko kingmakers and the statutory Traditional rulers’ Committee of Aniocha North. He is HRM Obi Solomon Eziokwubundu Nwabuokei Nwoko.”
Disclaiming insinuations about Prince Chukwunonso Nwoko ever being a king in Idumuje-Ugboko, Chief Ogwu said the claim was a misconception, pointing out that Prince Chukwunonso Nwoko was never a king. Ogwu said: “Where was he crowned? Who crowned him? You don’t just become a king; you must first be recognized and acknowledged. Everything has procedure and process leading to the recognition and emergence of an Idumuje-Ugboko monarch. As the Iyase of Idumuje-Ugboko, Chukwunonso Nwoko never told me that he wanted to be king.”
“Solomon Eziokwubundu Nwabuokei Nwoko is the one we recommended for king of Idumuje-Ugboko to the state government, and he is advancing and in due course, he will be made manifest.”
Dismissing the story published in the a newspaper suggesting that there are two kings, Chief Ogwu said the story is trying to weep up sentiments and create problems and fan the embers of discord where there is non.
He said: “There is no issue with Idumuje-Ugboko kingship. The Nwoko and Nwabuokei family have come joined hands and have resolved; they presented two candidates to the kingmakers and after due consideration one in the person of Nwabuokei was picked, approved and recommended to the state government. Anyone going about claiming to be who he is not is on his own.”
