The Delta State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed 17 commissioner nominees during Tuesday June 22, 2021 plenary session of the House in Asaba, the state capital.
Those screened and confirmed included Mr. Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, Dr Bare Gbe, Mr. Julius Egbedi, Mr. Ifeanyi Egwunyenga, Mrs Flora Alanta, Chief Arthur Akpowowo, Chief Festus Ochonogor, Engr. Jonathan Ukodhiko, Honourable Evelyn Oboro, Mr. Churchill Amagada, Engr. Noel Omodon and Mrs Rose Esenwu.
Others were Engr. Lawrence Ejiofor, Princess Shola Ogbemi-Daibo, Mr. Chris Onogba, Barrister Kate Onianwa and Mr. Johnbull Edema.
Moving the motion for confirmation was the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Engr. Oboro Preyor, member representing Bomadi Constituency and was seconded by The Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ochor Christopher Ochor.
During the screening, the former Commissioner of Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, gave a good account of the success of the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa led administration in the area of information dissemination in the past two years as the then commissioner for Information, adding that the activities, programmes and the policy thrust of Government were well publicised to Deltans, Nigerians and the global community.
He said that a lot of achievements were recorded in terms of infrastructure and man power training and retraining of staff in the ministry, adding that his renomination for appointment was now for him to consolidate on the achievements of the Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, if confirmed and sworn in as a commissioner again in the state.
Other Commissioner nominees also gave a good account of themselves before the lawmakers during the screening exercise.
In a related development, the House also screened and confirmed the appointment of secretaries for nine local government councils in the state .
The screening and confirmation of the secretaries came up immediately after the screening and confirmation of the Commissioner nominees
Moving the motion for confirmation was the Deputy Majority Leader , Hon. Oboro Preyor and was seconded by the Minority Leader of the House, Hon. Innocent Emosivwe , member representing Ethiope East Constituency.
The Secretaries screened and confirmed for their respective local government council included Barr. Labo Clifford Fun-Akpo (Bomadi), Mr. Felix Onyemaechi Edema (Ndokwa East), Com. Paul Angiama-Owei Oduru (Patani), Iyeh Brendan Chukwuemeka (Oshimili South) and Chukwunedu Harry Dafikpaku (Ukwani)
Others were Mrs Gabari Gladys Omare (Warri Southwest) Oderhowho Felix (Ughelli North), Igbuduma David Ejoor (Isoko North) and Samuel Meyiwa Khalil (Warri North).
