Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has again charged senior political appointees to invest in their constituents, especially in the area of human capacity development, women and youth empowerment.
He gave the advise at his Osubi residence in Okpe Local Government Area of the State, while addressing leaders and major stakeholders of Kokori PDP Ward Six, who paid him a solidarity visit to declare their unalloyed support for his candidacy and the state chapter of the party, under the leadership of the Governor and PDP Vice Presidential Candidate, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.
Oborevwori said leadership comes with responsibility, saying that to whom much is given, much is expected; which is why senior political appointees who are well endowed financially must of a necessity invest in other people in their communities through multifaceted empowerment programmes.
He assured that if voted into power on March 11, this year, his administration would advance Delta and grow the state economy through the M.O.R.E agenda, while commending governor Okowa for his exemplary leadership in the area of human capacity building, skills acquisition and empowerment, et al.
Oborevwori described Kokori as a politically active town with highly resourceful individuals and result oriented political gladiators who have done pretty well in partisan politics and public service since 1999 and counting, noting that Okpe LGA is sharing boundary with Ethiope East, meaning that the two LGAs shall continue to develop progressively.
He urged leaders of Ward 6, comprising 27 polling units, to do the needful so as to deliver their individual units for PDP and all candidates of the party, noting that there is serious work to be done in order to take back Nigeria from the failed opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.
“The past eight years of glaring leadership failure occasioned by the mismanagement of the Nigeria’s vibrant economy by the All Progressives Congress, APC, must come to an end on May 29, this year. If we unite, we can do it. Therefore, we must do whatever it takes to stay focused on voting out APC.
“With the calibre of leaders here today, I am more than convinced that Ward 6 Kokori in Ethiope East LGA will deliver our party and candidates at the polls.
“Unity among leaders cannot be overemphasized. You must do whatever it takes to stay united, so that you can collectively achieve your lofty goals of delivering block vote on February 25 and March 11, respectively.
“Honestly, I see a new dawn in Ethiope East politics. I strongly believe that better days are here, and you must endeavour to make a bold statement in the forthcoming general elections by shinning forth,” Oborevwori said
Earlier in his address, the leader of PDP Ward 6 Kokori and former member, House of Representatives, Rt Rt Hon Akpodiogaga Sunny Emeyese, said the Ward leaders have been working round the clock to deliver all candidates of the party on the agreed five over voting arrangements.
He disclosed that the visit became necessary to reassure the party’s governorship candidate, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, that the exit of the immediate past Local Government Council Chairman from the party in Ward 6, will not have any negative electioneering effect at the polls in the forthcoming general elections.
“We are here to pledge our unalloyed support and loyalty to you and our great party, PDP. Our party members in Ward 6 are intact, except for the former Council Boss who left all alone. We have received more than 250 defectors from the opposition APC in Ward 6 in the past three months and counting
“Ward 6 PDP in Kokori will deliver block vote for our governorship candidate and all candidates of our party at the polls,” Emeyese assured
Leaders of Ward 6 present during the visit includes; Ethiope East PDP Campaign Council Coordinator and Ward Leader, Rt Hon Sunny Emeyese, Spokesperson of Delta State PDP Campaign Council, Olorogun Barr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Ward 6 Chairman, Chief Felix Oniakuko, Ethiope East PDP Secretary, Engr James Akpoisheri, DESOPADEC Commissioner, Olorogun Kent Akigho Okiemute, former Desopadec Commissioner, Chief Bernard Agbonmiyerin, SSA Political to the Governor, Okakuro Sunday Umunade, Ward 6 Campaign Coordinator, Chief Abel Ekuse, past and serving Councilors, to mention but a few.
