President Muhammadu Buhari is again missing at the meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) currently holding at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Wednesday, April 26. The meeting is being presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, following Buhari’s absence.
According to Daily Trust, the cabinet had awaited the president’s arrival until the state house chief of protocols suddenly stepped in at 11.00am and whispered to Osinbajo. READ ALSO: If Buhari dies, I will kill 200 people – Police officer promises to send Nigerians to early graves
A security officer had also stood anxiously behind the president’s official seat in expectation of Buhari’s attendance. Ministers who seemed surprised by the absence of the president were sighted curiously whispering. Osinbajo reportedly started the meeting few minutes after 11am with a call for the recitation of the national anthem as well as prayers by the ministers of education and health, Adamu Adamu and Isaac Adewole respectively.

Reasons for the president’s absence has not been officially ascertained as at press time, as this will be making it the third time in a row that Buhari will be failing to show up at the meeting. It was also learnt that the council chamber, venue of the meeting is also scanty with about 20 out of 36 Ministers equally absent. Buhari’s health was the subject of discussion last week Wednesday, April, 19, when he was also absent at the same meeting, but the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, said it was nothing to worry about. Meanwhile, the acting secretary to the government of the federation, Dr Habibat Lawan, is in attendance, Vanguard reports.
Lawan became acting SGF following the suspension of Babachir David Lawal who is being investigated for alleged mismanagement of funds meant for the development of the northeast.
