Sexual harassment allegation: Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan submits petition against Akpabio, enjoys brief moment of affection with hubby

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan seeking leave of the Senator during plenary to present her petition alleging sexual harassment against the Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Senator Natasha who arrived at the Senate Chamber on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 alongside her husband, High Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, the Alema of Warri Kingdom, as plenary resumed following a one-week recess, exchanged a brief yet affectionate moment with her husband who gave her a tender kiss before she proceeded into the chamber to resume on her newly assigned seat.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan then formally submitted a petition against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, accusing him of sexual harassment. The explosive petition, filed during the Senate plenary on March 5, 2025, follows her previous public allegations made during an interview on Arise TV.

Speaking under Order 40 of the Senate Rules—allowing senators to raise matters of personal privilege—Senator Natasha took the floor to lay out her grievances. Her move sent shockwaves through the chamber as she detailed her accusations before officially submitting the petition. Senate President Akpabio, despite being at the center of the controversy, proceeded with the session and directed her to submit the document.

The petition has now been lodged and the Senate president immediately referred it to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions for further investigation.

The committee, chaired by Senator Neda Imaseun, is set to probe the matter.
