Ugbolu-Okpanam Road groundbreaking shifted over torrential rainfall

The Delta State Government has postponed the groundbreaking ceremony for the 12-kilometre Ugbolu–Okpanam Road project in Oshimili North Local Government Area, citing heavy rainfall as the reason for the change.

Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads and Public Information), Mr. Charles Aniagwu, announced the postponement in a statement issued on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, explaining that torrential rains made it impractical to proceed with the event as scheduled.

He said a new date for the ceremony would be communicated to the public soon, while conveying the regrets of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who was expected to lead the event — to invited guests and stakeholders.

Aniagwu reaffirmed the governor’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure projects that enhance the quality of life for residents, in line with the administration’s MORE Agenda, which focuses on meaningful development across the state.

“The State Government regrets any inconvenience caused by this postponement and wishes to assure residents that the Ugbolu–Okpanam Road project remains a top priority,” he stated.
