Prof. Oparah elected President of Association of Marketing Academic Professionals

The Association of Marketing Academic Professionals (AMAP) has elected Professor Promise Chika Oparah, PhD, as its new President.

AMAP, the apex body of marketing scholars and educators in Nigeria, announced Prof. Oparah’s emergence at its 2nd Annual General Meeting held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt.

Prof. Oparah, a Professor of Strategic Marketing at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, currently serves as Deputy Director I of the UNIZIK Centre for Capital Market Studies and Coordinator of Logistics and Supply Chain Management. He is also a Fellow of the Association of Marketing Academic Professionals of Nigeria and has chaired several key committees of the association, including the 2nd AGM and Maiden Conference Planning Committee and the Constitution Review Committee.

Within UNIZIK, Prof. Oparah has held notable administrative roles such as Head of the Department of Marketing and Deputy Director I of the UNIZIK Business School. He is also among the few Nigerians featured in Africa Who’s Who – United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Edition, recognized for his contributions to Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

As AMAP President, Prof. Oparah is expected to strengthen the association’s role as the leading scholarly voice for marketing education in Nigeria. His agenda includes reviewing and advocating for robust marketing curricula across universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

Members of the association congratulated Prof. Oparah, describing his election as a well-deserved recognition of his expertise, leadership, and dedication to advancing marketing scholarship in Nigeria.
