ADC to Wike: Fix schools, not fights; your office deserves decency

ADC to Wike: Fix schools, not fights; your office deserves decency

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has condemned in strong terms the rude and reckless attack by the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Mr. Peter Obi, a respected national leader, former governor, and 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

Wike’s outburst, laced with arrogance and needless bravado, was not only indecorous but also a disgrace to the high office he occupies. Leadership is about service, not showmanship; humility, not hubris.

All Mr. Peter Obi did was point out the shameful state of a public primary school in Abuja, a school without toilets, desks, or the barest learning facilities, a national embarrassment that should have provoked action, not insult.

When a citizen calls attention to decay, a serious leader fixes it, not fumbles for excuses or throws tantrums.

Comparing Wike’s two years of vanity projects in the FCT to Obi’s eight years of disciplined, transparent governance in Anambra is like comparing noise to music. History records that Peter Obi left billions in reserves, zero debts, and measurable progress in education and healthcare. Wike, on the other hand, seems obsessed with turning Abuja into a stage for self-glorification — commissioning contracts for cameras, not citizens.

Let it be clear: abuse is not performance. You can cut ribbons every week, but if children in the heart of Nigeria’s capital still study without toilets, desks, or dignity, your so-called “development” is hollow.

We urge the Minister to descend from his pedestal and return to the work that matters — governance, not grandstanding; substance, not soundbites. Abuja deserves a builder, not a brawler; a visionary, not a verbal pugilist.

The ADC stands solidly with all voices of conscience, including Mr. Peter Obi and Dr. Moses Paul, our Chairmanship candidate for AMAC — who continue to demand dignity, inclusion, and accountability in governance.

Mr. Wike, respect yourself and respect your office. Nigeria has had enough of leaders who mistake loudness for leadership.
