The Assistant Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State and Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Government Ogbueshi Anselm ‘Ayaka’ Onianwa, has explained why Governor Sheriff Oborevwori deserves a second term and is on course to secure the ticket of the APC for the 2027 Gubernatorial elections in the state.

In a statement from his office in Asaba, Ogbueshi Anselm Onianwa extolled the strategic actions of the governor for helping to strengthen and unite the party, especially since joining the APC. He said these actions remain the biggest political development that has stabilised the party thus far, exemplifying the governor’s disposition towards consultations and interactions, which are necessary in politics.

He said ” Since the defection of the Governor into the party, there have been notable developments, especially a deliberate or intentional move to unite the party under the bond of progress and continuity.

” The Governor H.E. Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori JP has maintained an open-door disposition to the party, and this act has further complemented the laudable works he’s doing in terms of infrastructure and citizens’ welfare. Since the defection, the party across all levels have had a series of interactions and engagements with him, and we are not in doubt of his sincere desire for peace and progress of the state and the party.

Speaking further, Ogbueshi Onianwa ascribed the recent endorsement of the Governor at the Stakeholders meeting as the fruit of a cordial relationship that exists between the Delta State government and the Party at all levels, as well as the party’s support for his performance.

According to him ” The APC in Delta State and at the National level believes in performance and not just politics, because performance provides the party with what to campaign for votes.

” All around Delta North Senatorial District, massive projects are being delivered or are at various stages of completion. Some include the Agbor Flyover Project, the Asaba Waterfront City project which is at an advanced stage, the Asaba Storm drainage project, and the completed Section C of the Asaba-Ughelli Expressway, the Warri Flyover projects, the Ughelli Roads expansion projects, the Kwale Industrial Park project, to mention a few.
These developments informed the Stakeholders’ endorsement which the Governor secured just a few days ago, carried out under the leadership of Elder (Engr) Omeni Sobotie our wise and fatherly State Chairman.”

The Assistant State Secretary of the APC also praised the efforts of the Delta North Senatorial leadership of the party for the return of the Stakeholders meeting which is to hold on the  October 25, 2025, in Obiaruku, noting that the time had come to perfect issues relating to the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

He said: ” In Delta North, we have already endorsed the President and Governor as our sole candidates in the presence of our state chairman, and we are ready for 2027 because both must be delivered 100%, and this is one of the reasons I commend the Delta North APC leadership most especially for the continuation of our monthly stakeholders meeting, where we will further strategise. The party is prepared to deliver all candidates it will present in 2027, from the State House of Assembly, to the National Assembly candidates.

” Delta North are a grateful people and we will show our gratitude to the Governor for the good works and sense of belonging he has given our people,” Ogbueshi Anselm Onianwa asserted.
