SSA to Tinubu: Partner with US to end genocide, terror in Nigeria; warns of expanding violence into southern states, says history ‘ll not forgive indifference

ABUJA, Nov. 11, 2025 — The Southern Solidarity Alliance (SSA) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately collaborate with the government of the United States to end what it described as a spreading wave of genocide and terrorist violence threatening the survival of Nigeria.

In a strongly worded statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 and signed by Ndubuisi Okafor, National Coordinator, and Comrade Orakpor Emmanuel Ogheneganaye, Head of Publicity, the SSA warned that the killings and displacements across the country bear the “unmistakable marks of genocide,” and could soon engulf the entire South if not decisively tackled.

“Nigeria is facing one of its darkest hours in recent history. Across many communities, innocent men, women, and children are being slaughtered, displaced, and silenced by acts of violence that bear the unmistakable marks of genocide,” the group declared.

The alliance noted that the attacks have become so systematic that whole communities have been wiped out and occupied by “invaders,” with survivors languishing in internally displaced persons’ (IDP) camps across the country.

It warned that the same violent forces that devastated parts of the North are now “creeping into Southern Nigeria,” particularly in border states like Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, Edo, Ebonyi, and Enugu.

“This was how they gradually started in Kaduna, Plateau, Benue, and Borno before their militant campaigns became full-fledged. The violent North is expanding its frontiers,” the SSA said, adding that “without solving this genocidal problem, there won’t be peace in Southern Nigeria.”

The group accused successive Nigerian governments of complicity and complacency in the face of the escalating violence, lamenting that the state has “not demonstrated the capacity to solve the problem but rather appears in deep romance with those perpetrating all manner of dastardly evils.”

According to the statement, the rise of separatist movements such as the Eastern Security Network (ESN), Ebubeagu, and the South-West’s Amotekun were direct reactions to the unchecked killings and invasions of communities.

The SSA drew parallels with the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, who once admitted that Boko Haram had infiltrated his government, and accused the Buhari administration of “sleeping while Jihadists and marauders overran Nigeria.”

It argued that the situation under the Tinubu government has become “even more hydra-headed and sinister,” warning that if the violence remains uncontained, “they might someday take over Aso Rock to the clapping of their enablers.”

Calls for Strategic Cooperation with U.S.

The Southern Solidarity Alliance specifically urged President Tinubu to take advantage of the United States’ renewed global engagement under President Donald J. Trump, describing Trump’s outspoken stance on Nigeria’s killings and persecution as a “divine opportunity” to save lives.

“President Trump’s unwavering stance in defense of human rights and his bold warning against the atrocities taking place in Nigeria must not be ignored. His voice reflects the conscience of humanity,” the SSA said.

It argued that rather than interpret U.S. concern as interference in domestic affairs, Nigeria should embrace international partnership to “pull the country away from Sharia as a state policy” and dismantle all conditions that have made mass killings possible.

“Cooperation with the United States at this time will not only help end the bloodshed but also reinforce Nigeria’s commitment to the sanctity of life and the rule of law,” the group maintained.

The alliance added that such collaboration would unlock access to “global intelligence, humanitarian support, and diplomatic strength” needed to defeat forces benefiting from chaos and division.

The SSA concluded with a passionate appeal to President Tinubu to rise to the occasion of history by choosing courage and compassion over politics or bias.

“The time has come for Nigeria to take bold steps, to show the world that we value human life above politics, ethnicity, or religious bias. History will not forgive indifference but it will honor courage, compassion, and collaboration for peace,” the statement said.

The group urged Nigerians across all divides to “rise together, hand in hand with America, to end genocide and restore hope” to the nation.

“Let the bloodshed cease, let the healing begin, and let history record that in our generation, humanity triumphed over hate,” it concluded.

*PRESS RELEASE*

*THE SOUTHERN SOLIDARITY ALLIANCE (SSA) URGES PRESIDENT TINUBU TO FULLY COOPERATE WITH THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TO END GENOCIDE AND VIOLENCE IN NIGERIA*

Nigeria is facing one of its darkest hours in recent history. Across many communities, innocent men, women, and children are being slaughtered, displaced, and silenced by acts of violence that bear the unmistakable marks of genocide. Whether the attacks targeted or target Christians or Muslims is so irrelevant. Thousands are murdered in cold blood by Jihadists and terrorist and Nigerians are displaced from their ancestral lands by forces from outside of their communities. Many live in IDP camps while their lands are occupied and possibly renamed by invaders; just as if Nigeria was in the earlier centuries when people were sacked from their land and refugees ran to other lands for safety! But this time it’s happening under a modern day Nigerian government!

The cries of Nigerians echo across the world; demanding justice, compassion, and decisive leadership.

The prevailing faith-based territorial expansionist violence is already setting into Southern Nigeria, where Fulani Herdsmen and harbingers of the imperial North are the foot soldiers. In all our states of Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, Edo, Ebonyi and Enugu bordering the North, are serious records of such attacks. This was how they gradually started in Kaduna, Plateau, Benue and Borno etc before their militant campaigns became full fledged. In fact it was their attacks that led to the rise of their counters in the SouthEast(ESN and Ebubeagu) and SouthWest(Sunday Igboho group and Amotekun). In other words the violent North is expanding it’s frontiers. In juxtaposition a peaceful North should have been a guarantor of a peaceful South. Without solving this genocidal problem, there won’t also be peace in Southern Nigeria.

Nigeria has not demonstrated the capacity to solve the problems but appears to be evidently in deep romance with those perpetrating all manner of dastardly evils. News on daily basis suggests that our Dear country has become overwhelmed by the traducers and their evil deeds. The rise of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is traceable to these evils. Yet today Nnamdi Kanu, who rose against the Northern oligarchy and it’s dominion, in articulated defence of his people is in DSS detention and is standing trial, while our pro-North Federal Government of Nigeria is fidgety with the troublers of Nigeria. Former President Jonathan was bold enough to tell the world that Boko Haram had infiltrated his government. It was evident that General Buhari’s government slept while Jihadists and all manner of marauders overran Nigeria. Today the Tinubu government is tackling a hydra-headed monster far more sinister than what General Buhari met in 2015. In other words the situation worsens and deepens. If not tackled today, they might someday take over Aso Rock to the clapping of their enablers and facilitators.

At this critical moment, we call on the Federal Government of Nigeria to cooperate fully with the government of the United States of America under the bold leadership of President Donald J. Trump, whose administration has raised genuine concern over the ongoing killings and persecution in Nigeria.

President Trump’s unwavering stance in defense of human rights and his bold warning against the atrocities taking place in Nigeria must not be ignored. His voice reflects the conscience of humanity; a voice that stands for the oppressed and calls for justice where injustice reigns.

The Federal Government must embrace this call, rather than see it as meddling in the internal affairs of Nigeria. It is a divine opportunity to save Nigerian citizens, restore peace, and rebuild trust in governance. It should map out and implement all measures that would pull Nigeria away from Sharia as a state policy and all conditions, which have made these atrocities contemplatable and indeed executable in Nigeria our fatherland.

Cooperation with the United States at this time will not only help end the bloodshed but also reinforce Nigeria’s commitment to the sanctity of life and the rule of law.

This partnership would open doors to global intelligence, humanitarian support, and diplomatic strength needed to confront those who profit from violence and division. The time has come for Nigeria to take bold steps, to show the world that we value human life above politics, ethnicity, or religious bias. History will not forgive indifference but it will honor courage, compassion, and collaboration for peace.

We therefore call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to respond swiftly to this moral and diplomatic appeal.

Let us rise together as a people, hand in hand with America, to end genocide and restore hope to our beloved nation. Let the bloodshed cease, let the healing begin, and let history record that in our generation, humanity triumphed over hate.
