Delta widows hail Oborevwori for prompt payment of October stipends

Widows under the Delta State Widows Welfare Scheme have poured out heartfelt appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori following the timely payment of their October stipends.

In a state where widowhood often brings not only emotional pain but also crushing economic hardship, the Governor’s consistency in providing monthly support has continued to offer thousands of vulnerable women a lifeline of hope and stability.

Speaking with journalists in Asaba, the State Coordinator of the scheme, Chief Isioma Okonta, praised Governor Oborevwori for what he termed “compassionate and exemplary leadership in every sense.”

Chief Okonta confirmed that stipends for the 10,000 verified widows enrolled in the scheme were credited directly into their bank accounts between Wednesday, October 19 and Friday, October 21, in strict compliance with the Governor’s directive.

He commended the Governor for sustaining the programme with unwavering commitment, noting that the monthly payments have continued to bring relief and restore dignity to widows who were thoroughly screened before being enlisted.

Okonta further revealed that with the full enrollment of the 10,000 widows now completed as instructed by the Governor, the accompanying Free Health Care Service Registration—also approved by Governor Oborevwori—is nearing completion. The initiative, he said, will provide additional medical support and ease the burden on widows who often struggle with health-related expenses.

Overflowing with gratitude, many of the beneficiaries offered prayers for Governor Oborevwori, asking God to strengthen him and bless his continued efforts to uplift the people of Delta State and Nigeria at large.
