Legendary Reggae icon, Jimmy Cliff, passes on

Globally acclaimed reggae singer and actor, James Chambers, better known by his stage name Jimmy Cliff, has passed on.

A statement released on his official social media pages confirmed that the 76-year-old music legend died following “a seizure followed by pneumonia.”

“It is with profound sadness that I share that my husband, Jimmy Cliff, has crossed over due to a seizure followed by pneumonia,” his wife announced via his official Facebook page.

She expressed deep gratitude to family, friends, colleagues, and fans who stood by the iconic performer throughout his illustrious career.

“To all his fans around the world, please know that your support was his strength throughout his whole career. He appreciated every single one of you,” the statement read.

She also extended appreciation to Dr. Couceyro and the medical team who cared for the singer in his final days.

“Jimmy, my darling, may you rest in peace. I will honour your wishes,” she added, while appealing for privacy as the family navigates their grief. She noted that additional details will be shared in due course.

Jimmy Cliff, whose music shaped generations and carried reggae across continents, leaves behind an enduring legacy of rhythm, activism, and hope.
