ADC blasts Tinubu over pre-2027 ‘Campaign Convoy’, says President has abandoned a bleeding nation for politics

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a blistering condemnation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing him of prioritising his 2027 re-election bid over a country drowning in insecurity, hunger, and fear.

In a strongly worded statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said it was “deeply appalled” by reports that the President has distributed fleets of Hilux trucks, Land Cruisers, and Hummer buses to political agents nationwide, a move it described as a reckless kick-off of a 2027 campaign at a time when Nigeria is under a declared state of emergency.

According to the ADC, Tinubu’s action “shows that the President’s declaration of a security emergency was nothing more than a headline-seeking gimmick,” exposing a leadership more invested in political survival than national salvation.

While Nigerians are living through some of the darkest days in the country’s recent history, the party said the President is busy building a partisan mobilisation machine.

“Entire communities are under siege, our armed forces are stretched thin, yet the ruling party is preparing for rallies,” the ADC said. “At a time when children are being kidnapped and countless communities attacked, the President is focused on re-election, seeking to continue presiding over a nation that has become more fractured and dangerous than he found it.”

The ADC questioned why, in a period of national agony, with citizens being kidnapped, displaced, and killed daily, the Presidency would be distributing luxury vehicles instead of strengthening security, rebuilding livelihoods, and addressing mass suffering.

The party also reminded Tinubu that, according to INEC regulations, the official campaign season for 2027 has not begun. By distributing branded vehicles and setting up political structures, the ruling party, it warned, is “openly violating electoral rules and mocking Nigeria’s democratic order.”

The ADC challenged INEC to act decisively, insisting that silence or inaction would undermine the credibility of the 2027 elections even before campaigns officially commence.

With insecurity worsening and communities crying for help, the ADC said Nigerians must not lose sight of what it described as “the disturbing reality of a President who has chosen politics over governance, and re-election over national survival.”
