Osuoza pays tribute to late Punch Correspondent Matthew Ochei, commiserates with NUJ, Punch

Delta State Commissioner for Special Duties (Government House), Dr. Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Punch Newspapers correspondent, Comrade Matthew Ochei, describing him as a committed professional and steadfast unionist.

In a condolence message, Osuoza extended sympathies to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, the Correspondents Chapel, and the management and staff of Punch Newspapers.

He said Ochei distinguished himself through courage, professionalism and dedication to the ideals of ethical journalism, qualities that earned him the respect of colleagues and stakeholders across the media industry.

“Comrade Ochei was a committed journalist and unionist whose professionalism, courage and dedication to ethical journalism earned him the respect of colleagues and stakeholders alike. His contributions to the profession and to the NUJ family will be fondly remembered,” Osuoza said.

The commissioner prayed God to comfort Ochei’s family, colleagues and friends, and to grant them the strength to bear the loss, while also praying for the repose of his soul.

“May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire the journalism profession,” he added.
