PERSPECTIVE – Sheriff Oborevwori: When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice

By Ifeanyi Osuoza

“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice.” This timeless truth finds clear expression in the leadership of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, whose administration continues to reflect compassion, prudence, and the fear of God in governance.

Leadership thrives when guided by empathy and responsibility. Governor Oborevwori has demonstrated that purposeful governance, anchored on people-centred policies, delivers results across board. From urban centres to the most remote riverine communities, his administration has remained inclusive, responsive, and impactful.

A testament to his respect for tradition and institutional partnership is the presentation of brand new official SUVs to members of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, strengthening their capacity to support peace, unity, and grassroots development. In infrastructure, the State has witnessed the construction of roads, bridges, and flyovers across Delta State, projects that are easing movement, boosting commerce, and improving the quality of life for residents.

Beyond infrastructure, the Oborevwori administration has placed strong emphasis on social welfare and economic empowerment. Through targeted initiatives, over 10,000 widows have benefited from empowerment programmes designed to restore dignity and provide sustainable livelihoods. Additionally, the D-CARES scheme has empowered more than 200,000 beneficiaries, cushioning vulnerable citizens and stimulating economic activity across communities.

What makes these achievements even more remarkable is the Governor’s commitment to fiscal discipline. Since the inception of his administration, not a single dime has been borrowed, proving that visionary leadership and prudent resource management can coexist with large-scale development.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s leadership underscores a simple but powerful principle: when authority is exercised with righteousness, compassion, and accountability, the people indeed rejoice, and the State prospers.

Dr. Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza,
Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties (Government House).
