IPOB disbands ‘Emma Powerful’ alias, mandates official stationery for statements

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has abolished the long-used pseudonym “Emma Powerful” for its communications, declaring it compromised. The group now requires all official statements to be issued exclusively on its letterheaded paper.

The directive was announced Saturday by Mazi Chukwukadibia Edoziem, Head of IPOB’s Directorate of State (DOS). The statement cited the abuse, misuse, and compromise of the alias as creating “serious risks” to the movement.

“The continued use of the pseudonym presents clear and present dangers to IPOB as a movement and to the Biafran self-determination struggle,” the DOS stated. It accused unnamed actors of using the name to disrupt regional peace.

Consequently, any future statement issued under “Emma Powerful” is deemed unauthorized and unrepresentative of IPOB leadership.

In a related clarification, the DOS asserted it did not authorize any lockdown or sit-at-home order for Monday, February 2, 2026, in Biafraland.
