The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr. Emmanuel E. Sideso, on Friday, February 13, 2025 formally presented his autobiography, Odyssey of Royalty: The Reign of Abe 1, offering a sweeping reflection on leadership, legacy, and Nigeria’s pathway to unity and development.
Speaking at the public presentation and book launch held at the Ovie of Uvwie Palace in Effurun, Delta State, the monarch described the book as a truthful account of his life’s journey, from private service to the sacred responsibility of the throne, anchored on humility, providence, and collective progress.
At 83, Abe I said the autobiography was inspired by the need for authentic history, noting that societies must tell their own stories without prejudice or fear. He explained that Odyssey of Royalty documents the storms, transitions, and triumphs of his reign, while celebrating the shared milestones of the Uvwie people over the last 18 years.
Reflecting on his stewardship as Ovie, the royal father said his reign began under challenging circumstances but was guided by faith, courage, and an inclusive leadership philosophy. He emphasized transparency, effective communication, and bold decision-making as hallmarks of his administration, adding that taking the “road less travelled” was necessary to justify the trust reposed in him.

Among the notable achievements of his reign, Abe I highlighted the conception and completion of the multi-million-naira Uvwie Palace within record time, as well as sustained economic growth, improved public infrastructure, and relative peace across the kingdom. He attributed these gains to the resilience, unity, and shared vision of the Uvwie people.
The monarch also recounted his professional background, including 30 years of service at the Nigerian Mint, while acknowledging the accomplishments of his family as evidence of divine favour and disciplined commitment to excellence.
Turning to national issues, Abe I commended the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as pragmatic efforts to reposition Nigeria. He called for unity, constitutional reforms that guarantee justice and fairness, and collective resolve against corruption, insecurity, and divisive tendencies.
He urged traditional rulers and religious leaders to work closely with government in promoting compassion, economic empowerment, and national cohesion, stressing that leadership must be anchored on example, not self-aggrandizement.
The monarch also raised concerns over the rising cost of air travel, appealing to airlines to review fares in the interest of national development, while lamenting the broader security challenges affecting mobility across the country.
Abe I expressed gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for infrastructural upgrades in Uvwie Kingdom and continued support for the Uvwie Education and Scholarship Scheme, initiated under Ifeanyi Okowa. He also acknowledged the enduring support of former governors James Ibori and Emmanuel Uduaghan.
The event attracted top government officials, lawmakers, traditional rulers, clergy, and community leaders, underscoring the broad impact of the monarch’s reign and the significance of the autobiography.
Concluding his address, Abe I reaffirmed his optimism about the future of Uvwie Kingdom and Nigeria, urging citizens to remain steadfast and hopeful, declaring that the nation would ultimately overcome its challenges.
“Every cloud has a silver lining, Nigeria shall triumph,” he said.
