Aides to the governor and members of Delta State cabinet should be reminded that there was never merger issue between APC and PDP in Delta State.
Some members of PDP followed the governor into APC. The APC Excos at various wards welcomed them. Some of them were appointed leaders.

But you don’t flee a war-ravaged home into a well-established kingdom and become the king of the kingdom. This is the mistake Mr. Charles Aniagwu in Ika North East and some others in other places made.

Note that two political parties rarely have the same ideology. When you join another, get reoriented with humility. Instead, some cabinet members of Delta State Government went into APC to sack those they met.
For instance, at a meeting of APC Aniocha North Ward 8 in Idumuje-Unor some time about July last year, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, Commissioner for Special Duties Governor’s Office, made a statement which could have caused much disaffection but for the intelligent response from the party’s LG Chairman, Mr. Matthew Chinye.
Osuoza highlighted the good work of the governor which all acknowledged to be true. He added that the party had assured the governor automatic ticket for the 2027 governorship election. All applauded him for he was also correct.
But he went on to say: “We hear some people are going for Senate but they have not told us… When they tell us, we will decide….”
Here he erred. Barr Uche Nwulu chuckled, looked left and right, because Osuoza was wrong. Before he joined APC, the party had made Senator Ned Nwoko the APC Delta North Senatorial leader. At the ward, we also decided in February 2025 that Senator Nwoko would return to Senate in 2027.
I would therefore advise all those who followed His Excellency to APC to humble themselves and learn from the party’s Internal Democracy Mechanism, instead of trying to impose their PDP failed traits on their new party.
It should also be noted that some members of PDP are still meeting to revive PDP. We will not be surprised if they field candidates for 2027 elections.
For those of them who pretend to have defected to APC, it amounts to anti-party activity which is punished in APC.
