NAPPS South-South suspends Delta State Executive over alleged gross misconduct

By Chukwudi Abiandu

The South-South Zonal Executive Council (ZEC) of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) has announced the indefinite suspension of the Delta State Executive Committee of the association over alleged gross misconduct and multiple violations of its constitution.

The decision was made public on Monday, February 16, 2025, during a press conference addressed by the South-South Zonal President of NAPPS, Dr. Ochuko Akpeme in Asaba, Delta State.

According to the suspension notice, the affected executive, led by Mrs. Precious Young, was accused of acts said to contravene provisions of the NAPPS Constitution 2023 (as amended), including Articles 96 and 24. The ZEC listed several alleged infractions, among them insubordination to constituted authorities, misrepresentation of the association’s position, dissemination of misleading information to members, failure to remit zonal and national dues, and the publication of materials in the association’s name without approval from the National Executive Council (NEC).

The zonal body further accused the Delta State leadership of making unauthorized decisions beyond its mandate and engaging in actions that allegedly undermined the unity, credibility and progress of the association.

“In view of the cited constitutional provisions and the unlawful actions of the Delta State Executive, the Zonal Executive Council has invoked the sanctions provided for under the NAPPS constitution,” the statement read.

As part of the directive, the suspended officials were ordered to hand over all NAPPS documents and properties in their possession to the South-South Zonal President within three days of receiving the suspension notice. The ZEC warned that any action taken by the suspended executives after receipt of the letter would be regarded as null and void and treated as criminal.

The suspension notice was copied to the National President of NAPPS, security agencies including the police, Delta State education authorities, examination bodies, and NAPPS chairmen across the South-South zone.

Despite the action, the ZEC acknowledged what it described as the earlier good intentions of the suspended officials and wished them well in their future endeavours.
