Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has called on Nigerians to prioritise prayer, unity and collective responsibility as essential foundations for national stability and sustainable development.
Speaking on Friday, February 20, 2026 during a courtesy visit by Dr Chris Kwakpovwe, founder of Manner Prayer Mountain Ministry Worldwide and author of the Our Daily Manna devotional, the governor stressed that leadership thrives best when supported by citizens’ prayers and goodwill.
“Governance succeeds not merely by human strength but by divine guidance,” Oborevwori said. “When leaders succeed, the people ultimately benefit.”
The governor urged citizens to continually pray for those in authority, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing leadership as divinely ordained.
He warned that development cannot flourish in an atmosphere of division, emphasising that unity remains critical to progress.
Oborevwori reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to people-oriented governance, pledging continuous community engagement and policies that deliver tangible development across Delta State.
“As a government, our focus remains faithful service and meaningful development,” he said, adding that sustained prayer and cooperation would keep both the state and nation moving forward.
Earlier, Kwakpovwe, accompanied by his wife and other clergy members, said he considered it a sacred duty to pray for those in positions of authority, citing biblical injunctions that mandate believers to uphold leaders in prayer for wisdom, strength and sound judgment.
Reflecting on the devotional’s 26-year journey, Kwakpovwe described Our Daily Manna as a divine assignment that grew from humble beginnings through consistency, sacrifice and grace into a global spiritual companion.
He commended Oborevwori’s leadership, describing him as an exceptional governor and affirming his commitment to continually uphold him in prayers.
