APC announces sub-committees for 2026 National Convention

The All Progressives Congress has approved the composition of sub-committees for its 2026 National Convention, as part of efforts to ensure a transparent, credible and well-organised exercise.

The party said the sub-committees will oversee key operational, administrative, electoral, logistics, security and programme activities required for the smooth conduct of the convention.

According to the party, the Aspirants’ Screening Committee will be chaired by Ekiti State Governor, Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji, with Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, as co-chairman, while former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, will serve as vice chairman. The Screening Appeal Committee will be led by Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, alongside Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, with former APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as vice chairman.

The Election Committee will be chaired by former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, with former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, as co-chairman. Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, and Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, will serve as vice chairmen. The Election Appeal Committee will be headed by Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, as co-chairman, and Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, as vice chairman.

Other committees include the Venue Committee, chaired by Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, and the Security Committee, headed by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd), with Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, as co-chairman, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, as vice chairman.

The Finance Committee will be chaired by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, with Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as co-chairman, while the Media and Publicity Committee will be led by Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni. Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, will chair the Ceremonial, Programme and Events Committee, while Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, will head the Delegates’ Accreditation Committee.

Other sub-committees cover protocol, accommodation and transportation, entertainment and welfare, convention legacy and rapporteur, legal advisory, medical and emergency response, as well as secretariat and technical support.

The party urged all committee members to discharge their duties diligently and in strict compliance with the party’s constitution and approved guidelines.

In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on Wednesday, the APC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a credible and transparent national convention that would strengthen internal democracy and consolidate the party’s progressive ideals.
