
Former Anambra State Governor and presidential aspirant, Peter Obi, on Friday, February 27, 2026 joined prominent Nigerians to honour the late Peter Nwaoboshi at his funeral Mass held at St. Augustine. Catholic Church, Ibusa.
In a tribute shared on his X handle, Obi described the deceased as a “distinguished Senator” who faithfully represented Delta North, offering prayers that God grants him eternal rest and comforts his family and loved ones.
The solemn ceremony drew a wide spectrum of political and community leaders, underscoring Senator Nwaoboshi’s influence and years of public service. Among those present were Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his deputy, Sir John Onyeme, alongside former governors Chief James Ibori and Ifeanyi Okowa, as well as the former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege.
Serving and former members of the National and State Assemblies, as well as other dignitaries, also attended the Mass to pay their final respects, reflecting the late senator’s enduring legacy in Delta North and beyond.
