Uzodimma rallies APC base, demands unified grassroots push for Tinubu’s reforms

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imp State, has charged coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors across the South-South to close ranks, intensify grassroots mobilisation, and aggressively communicate the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring that alignment within the ruling party is “not a suggestion, but a requirement.”

Speaking at the South-South Zonal Workshop of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Asaba, the Imo State Governor stressed that the success of the administration’s reform agenda depends heavily on disciplined, coordinated messaging and sustained engagement with Nigerians at the grassroots.

Uzodimma, who also serves as Director General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, said the initiative is anchored on a national framework built around “One Party, One Message, One Mobilisation,” warning against fragmented communication strategies across regions.

“The South-South cannot be doing one thing while the North-East is doing another. We must operate as one mobilisation force with a unified message and clear direction,” he said.

He disclosed that a comprehensive national work plan developed after the APC’s strategic summit in Abuja outlines specific roles, timelines, and deliverables for coordinators at zonal, state, local government, and ward levels, insisting that adherence to the blueprint is mandatory.

According to him, the workshop in Asaba is part of a nationwide effort to align party operatives and equip them with the tools needed to translate federal government policies into relatable messages for ordinary Nigerians.

Uzodimma acknowledged a growing disconnect between macroeconomic gains and the lived realities of citizens, noting that while key economic indicators are improving, many Nigerians are still grappling with the immediate effects of reforms.

He cited increased foreign reserves, improved crude oil production, expanded healthcare coverage, and rising allocations to states as evidence of progress under the Tinubu administration, but admitted that the benefits are yet to fully trickle down.

“At the macro level, Nigeria is stabilising. But at the micro level, many Nigerians are still feeling the pain. That is the gap we must close,” he said.

The governor described members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors as “interpreters of government vision” tasked with bridging that gap through direct engagement in markets, motor parks, and community spaces.

He urged participants to move beyond propaganda, emphasizing the need for honest conversations, active listening, and fact-based communication to counter what he described as misinformation by opposition elements.

“Misinformation travels faster than facts. We must counter propaganda with truth and cynicism with hope,” he said.

Uzodimma also defended the administration’s reform policies, including subsidy removal and exchange rate unification, arguing that temporary hardship is inevitable in any serious economic restructuring.

“When you remove long-standing distortions, people feel the pain before they see the benefits. But the pain is temporary; the gains are permanent,” he stated, expressing optimism that Nigeria is “turning the corner.”

He insisted that the task of the ambassadors goes beyond securing electoral victory for the APC, saying their primary responsibility is to deepen public understanding and acceptance of the President’s long-term vision for national transformation.

While expressing confidence in Tinubu’s re-election prospects, Uzodimma dismissed the opposition as lacking credible alternatives, accusing them of relying on “noise and propaganda.”

The governor outlined strict timelines for implementation of mobilisation strategies, directing state coordinators to convene alignment meetings within 30 days, roll out ward-level engagements within 60 days, and begin structured reporting on performance metrics within 90 days.

He urged participants to fully utilise materials and templates already developed by the party, including messaging guides, data references, and engagement frameworks.

The workshop, hosted by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, is one of several planned across the country to strengthen the APC’s grassroots communication machinery ahead of future political engagements.

Uzodimma concluded by urging party faithful to match their belief in the Renewed Hope Agenda with concrete action.

“Belief without action is empty. Let us align, let us mobilise, and let us get to work,” he said.
