ASABA – March 27, 2026 – The Delta State Police Command has dealt a major blow to criminal networks and illicit drug operations, following intelligence-led raids across Warri and Ughelli.
On March 25, 2026, operatives led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, targeted black spots in Warri South, Uvwie, and Okpe Local Government Areas. The raids, carried out by the Buffalo Operational Team and other tactical units, focused on Ugbrumu and Jeddo communities.
A statement by SP Edafe Bright, the Command’s Public Relations Officer stated that a total of 59 suspects (51 men and 8 women) were arrested at criminal hideouts, including a notorious bush bar. Many of the hotels raided were operating as brothels, housing prostitutes and providing safe havens for criminals. Several suspected cultists on the Command’s watch list were also caught. Recovered substances included codeine, crack cocaine, “loud,” “colos,” and Indian hemp.
The following day, March 26, DCP Adejobi led another operation in Ughelli town, deploying the Crack Squad, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), and Buffalo Squad. Acting on fresh intelligence, they raided Epini Hotel along the Ughelli–Patani Expressway, Torsac Hotel, and Primaria Guest House.
In this second raid, 213 suspects were arrested. Again, hotels were found doubling as brothels and criminal sanctuaries. Large quantities of Canadian loud, CSC syrup, tramadol, swinol, and Indian hemp were seized.
All suspects and exhibits have been handed over to the DPO of ‘A’ Division, Ughelli, alongside the RRS and CP Special Assignment Team for investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police assured the public that any culpable suspects will face the full force of the law. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining operations across Sapele and beyond, urging citizens to provide timely, credible information to help fight crime.
