The Delta State Police Command has intensified its security operations with a coordinated waterway patrol aimed at curbing criminal activities and boosting safety along critical riverine corridors in the state.

The operation, which involved a contingent of marine police operatives from both Delta and Anambra State Commands, was supported by personnel of the Buffalo Team and led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations.

The patrol covered strategic waterways stretching from the Second Niger Bridge axis to the Asaba Grand Hotel area, identified as sensitive zones requiring heightened surveillance.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the exercise forms part of ongoing efforts by the Command to proactively tackle emerging security threats and ensure the safety of residents and commuters within the state.

He noted that all officers engaged in the operation were fully equipped with life jackets, underscoring the Command’s adherence to safety protocols and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

The patrol was carried out successfully without any incident, further reinforcing the effectiveness of inter-state collaboration in policing operations.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Delta State. He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies with timely and credible information.
