Oborevwori reassigns commissioners after resignations over 2027 assembly ambitions

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved the immediate reassignment of supervisory responsibilities in two key ministries following the resignation of two commissioners seeking elective offices ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Under the new arrangement, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Princess Pat Ajudua, will now oversee the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development pending further directives from the state government.

Similarly, the Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Godknows Angele, has been directed to supervise the Ministry of Youth Development with immediate effect.

The changes were announced in a statement issued on Friday by the State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu.

Aniagwu explained that the development followed the resignation of the former Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development, Ms. Orode Uduaghan, and the former Commissioner for Youth Development, Barr. ThankGod Harry Trakiriowei.

According to him, both former commissioners stepped down from the State Executive Council to pursue their political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections, particularly their plans to contest seats in the Delta State House of Assembly.

The government spokesman said Governor Oborevwori commended the former commissioners for their patriotic service and contributions to the development of the state during their tenure.

He added that the governor also wished them success in their future political pursuits.

Aniagwu noted that the new supervisory arrangements take immediate effect pending further announcements by the Delta State Government.
