Fresh cracks have emerged within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State as tension and anger continue to spread across party ranks over allegations that loyal members are being pushed aside in favour of recent entrants and political defectors ahead of the party primaries.

Aggrieved stakeholders within the party are accusing the leadership of betraying longtime faithful who laboured for years to build and sustain the APC during difficult political seasons, only to now watch newcomers allegedly seize control of party structures and influence the selection of candidates.

According to party insiders, individuals who only recently joined the APC are allegedly being handed strategic advantages, including control over delegate arrangements and easier access to party tickets, while old members are reportedly being denied fair participation in the process.

The development has sparked outrage among several party faithful, many of whom insist they endured intimidation, political uncertainty and years of sacrifice to keep the party alive, but are now being treated as outsiders in the very platform they helped nurture.

Some stakeholders warned that the growing culture of exclusion, favouritism and imposition of candidates could trigger deeper divisions within the APC and damage party unity ahead of future elections.

They argued that sidelining loyal members in favour of political opportunists risks creating bitterness, rebellion and internal sabotage capable of weakening the party from within.

Political observers also cautioned that unless the APC leadership urgently restores confidence in the process and guarantees fairness, transparency and equal opportunities for both old and new members, the crisis could spiral into open resistance during and after the primaries.

The worsening discontent, observers say, is already exposing dangerous fault lines within the party and raising serious questions about the APC’s commitment to internal democracy and loyalty to its grassroots base.
