The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has dismissed as false and misleading reports linking its Director-General, Mr. Patrick Ukah, to the tragic train accident that occurred in Agbor, Delta State, on Monday.
In a statement issued by the agency’s management, the DSCTDA described the reports circulating on social media and some media platforms as “completely false, baseless, and fabricated,” urging the public to disregard them.
The agency clarified that Ukah was neither on the train involved in the accident nor connected in any way to the unfortunate incident.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Mr. Patrick Ukah was not on the train and was never involved in the unfortunate incident in Agbor. The publication linking him to the accident is a fabrication and a clear case of misinformation,” the statement said.
The DSCTDA condemned the spread of unverified information, warning that such reports are capable of causing unnecessary panic, anxiety, and emotional distress to the Director-General’s family, associates, government officials, and the public.
The agency called on media organisations, bloggers, and social media users to verify facts before publishing or sharing information and urged those responsible for the false reports to immediately retract them.
While distancing its Director-General from the incident, the agency expressed sympathy to the victims of the train accident and their families.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to truth, responsible communication, and public service, advising members of the public to rely only on official statements from the agency for accurate and authentic information.
The statement was signed by the management of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency.
