In what obviously is the season of political appointments, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state has again reached into his store house to make further nominations of those to be engaged as commissioners and other appointees for approval by the state House of Assembly.
The Governor’s letter to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori notifying the law makers of the nominations, and read at plenary today, Thursday, 18/7/2019 has the following names nominated for the office of commissioners:
(1) MR CHARLES EHIEDU ANIAGWU.
(2) MR IFEANYI EGWUNYENGA
(3) DR MORDI ONONYE
(4) HON OVIE OGHOORE
(5) PRINCE EMMANUEL AMAGBADUBA
(6) HON. (MRS ) GBUBEMI IKOLO
(7) MR MATTHEW TSEKIRI
(8) MR CHRISTIAN ONOGBA
(9) MR OMAMOFE JOSEPH PIRAH
(10) CHIEF HENRY SAKPRA.
Already, the first set of eight commissioners have been screened, sworn-in and assigned portfolios, while another batch of seven recently nominated and screened by the House as Commissioners-designate are waiting to be sworn-in and assigned portfolios. It is believed that with this new batch of 10 nominees the 18 fresh commissioners be sworn-in after the screening of the 10 by the House of Assembly is concluded. It will then bring to 26 the number of commissioners in the Okowa’s cabinet for the second term.
