Udu Council Chairman imposes dust to dawn curfew

The Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Hon. Jite Brown has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew in some part of the local government area.

This is contained in a press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman Mrs Elohor Awinoron at the end of the peace security meeting with the District Police Officer and other security chiefs in the office of the Chairman.

According to the chairman the curfew is to take place between 6pm to 6am from which the movement of Keke, Vehicles and motorbike is prohibited.

The curfew is to cover Ovwian town Ekete Inland/Ekete Waterside, Owhase Town, Orhuwhorun Junction to Mofor Junction.

The chairman warned that any offenders would face the full wrath of the law and encouraged the people to go about their normal business, saying their safety was assured.

Earlier, the people of Ovwian community staged a peaceful demonstration to the Ovwian town hall led by the President General, Chief Matthew Uparon, demanding government intervention to put an end to the incessant killing and wanton destruction of property by youth believed to be cult boys.

According to Chief Matthew Uparon the activities of cult boys had given the community a bad name and caused many to move out of it.
