Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information,Charles Aniagwu, has dismissed reports of his alleged suspension from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akumazi Ward, Ika North East Local Government Area, describing them as “a joke taken too far” by political mischief-makers.
Speaking on The Morning Show on ARISE NEWS on Sunday, February 15, 2026 Aniagwu said no competent organ of the APC in Delta State had taken any disciplinary action against him, stressing that he remains a loyal party member.
He urged the public to disregard what he called baseless claims circulated on social media and published by online newspapers as news breaks, insisting that the suspension did not follow due process under the APC Constitution.
According to him, the controversy arose from ward congress activities and internal arrangements linked to party primaries. Aniagwu said some caretaker committee members sought his endorsement to return through a non-consensus arrangement, which he opposed, insisting on adherence to established zoning agreements that have maintained peace at the grassroots.
He alleged that those who failed to secure consensus resorted to unconstitutional actions, referencing Article 21 of the APC Constitution, which outlines proper disciplinary procedures.
Aniagwu explained that he initially ignored the issue because he considered it insignificant, pointing out that while some ward leaders suggested disciplinary action against those behind the claim, he declined, describing them as “brothers.”
Reaffirming his commitment to the party, Aniagwu maintained that any valid disciplinary process must involve formal complaints, investigation and fair hearing, concluding that the alleged suspension was an internal misunderstanding exaggerated beyond proportion.
