“When you vote me in as president, I will reactivate all the ports abandoned in Delta State. I promise you this. The entire infrastructure abandoned by the Federal Government because you are a PDP state I will complete them. And you know that my wife is from Onitsha, so, we won’t have any option than to complete the second Niger Bridge. “
The foregoing words was all that the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar needed to utter so send the party faithful, supporters, well- wishers and Deltans into an ecstatic frenzy of jubilation today, Thursday, January 31, 2019 inside the capacity filled Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
At a very well organized and attended presidential campaign rally, with gaily dressed and joyous party supporters who danced to music rendered by Davido, Timaya among numerous others, the Atiku campaign train came into the stadium to a warm reception by an unprecedented crowd of waiting supporters.

Mounting the rostrum, Atiku told the people not to allow themselves to be deceived again by President Muhammadu Buhari and his All Progressives Congress (APC) government. “The APC came to deceive us. All the promises they made have not fulfilled,” the PDP presidential candidate said, adding: “They promised to create employment for the unemployed, they failed. Buhari is incompetent and APC is a failure.”
Atiku continued: “You know that I am part and parcel of this state. The schools are PDP, the hospitals, the airport, the roads are PDP. Why would you want to go to another party?
“I will reactivate all the ports abandoned in Delta State. I promise you this. And the entire infrastructure abandoned by the Federal Government because you are a PDP state I will complete.
“I will have to complete the second Niger Bridge; see, my wife from that side. They deceived you and just put sand there. But I have no choice but to complete it. Vote PDP all through. I love you all, and I thank you.”
Atiku described Governor ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as one of the best governors that Nigeria has produced.
Sir Peter Obi, the vice presidential candidate said the APC Federal Government has not done anything in Delta State. “All that they are interested in is to take the oil from Delta State. Delta people shine your eyes,” he said, even as he praise the good works that Governor Okowa has done in the state.
The Senate President, and Director General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Bukola Saraki, who congratulated Governor Okowa for the beautiful Stephen Keshi Stadium, then called on the people to come out and vote to change the direction of this nation. “Three and half years ago, they told us they promised to provide employment and other things, the government has failed. It is time to vote out the failure government, Saraki said.
He said because Buhari lacks business mentality, he doesn’t know that business people don’t go to places where there is no rule of law. “Buhari’s government does not operate rule of law. And the reason is that Buhari’s government does not operate rule of law. And Atiku believes in the rule of law; he is a business man and an employer of labour. Atiku understands the language of business people who create jobs. Any vote for APC is a wasted vote; it is a failed party,” Senator Saraki said.
National Secretary of the PDP, Uche Secondus who prayed that the APC federal government continues to make mistakes, said however that if the APC wants peace, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must ensure that the election is not rigged. “We also advise the security agencies to be neutral and should not collaborate with INEC to rig the election. If they do, they are looking for war,” he warned .
Chiding the President, Secondus said Buhari went to Germany and called the country Western Germany. “He came to Delta State and handed over the presidential flag to Ogboru. E don finish na,” he said, and continued: “We don’t want an analogue president. Vote in Atiku who is digital. Buhari is not in charge, his wife said so; that her husband is not in charge, that it is the cabal that is in charge. Do you want that type of president? Vote Atiku, the man that will be in charge.”
