Birthday bell tolls for Ndubisi Ugbede @ 70; TJAA plans symposium

Times Journalism Alumni Association celebrates. Pastor Ndubuisi Ugbede who marks his 70th birthday anniversary today, March 21, 2025.

Meanwhile, the Association is pleased to announce a symposium in honour of its esteemed former Director, Mr. Ndubuisi Ugbede, as he marks his 70th birthday.

A statement by associations Local Organising Committee (LOC) states that the symposium, themed “TJAA Celebrating Ndubuisi Ugbede at 70,” will take place on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the NUJ Council Secretariat, (Ladi Lawal House) 9A Iyalla Street, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, at 10:00 AM prompt.

It will feature two insightful papers:

1. “Bridging the Gap in Journalism Education in Nigeria and Beyond”
2. “Ethical Journalism in the Past Century and the Missing Links”

These presentations will stimulate meaningful discussions and reflections on the state of journalism education and practice in Nigeria.

“We are delighted to celebrate Mr. Ugbede’s remarkable life and contributions to journalism,” said Mr Clifford Agugoesi, President of TJAA. “This symposium is a testament to his enduring legacy and impact on our profession.”

The TJAA invites all members of the journalism community, academia, and the general public to attend the symposium and join in celebrating Mr. Ugbede’s milestone birthday.
