The Catholic Bishop of Issele Uku Diocese, Most Rev, Michael Elue, on Sunday, inaugurated the diocesan inquiry on the beatification and canonization of Rev, Fr, Anselm Ojefua.
Addressing journalists shortly after the inauguration at the St Paul’s Catholic Cathedral, Issele Uku in Aniocha North local government, Bishop Elue reaffirmed that before a saint was declared it must be subjected to various critical examination of the life and times of the person.
According to the bishop, it was to established sufficient evidence from the persons that worked with him while he served the Lord.
Bishop Elue admonished everyone to struggle hard to live a holy and righteous life while on earth, saying it was the only gate way to becoming a saint upon demise.
Earlier in his address, the Postulator, Rev, Peter Ndinwa stressed: “That the desire and request to begin a Diocesan canonical inquiry to acknowledged the life, the heroic virtues and fame for holiness of Very Rev, Fr Anselm came to the fore on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of his death, and series of lectures about him coupled with the affirmation of his uniqueness as a true man of God by numerous persons who knew him.”
The postulator also stated that on September 18, 2008 the actor of the cause asked the diocesan bishop to introduce the process of the beatification and canonization of the servant of God.
He also said that team comprising the theological censors, the historical experts and the tribunal were inaugurated for the task.
The ceremony was well attended particularly by the brother knights and ladies led by the worthy Supreme Knight of St Mulumba, Sir Diamond Ovweraye, amongst other dignitaries.
