Christmas: Oborevwori urges Deltans to embrace love, unity, service

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated Christians and residents of the state on the celebration of Christmas, calling on them to deepen the spirit of love, unity and Christ-like living for the peace and progress of Delta.

In a message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor said the season offers an opportunity for reflection on the values of sacrifice, compassion and selfless service exemplified by Jesus Christ, and urged citizens to renew their commitment to building a more harmonious society.

Oborevwori commended Deltans for their resilience and support, noting that their cooperation has been instrumental to the gains recorded by his administration so far. He restated his commitment to good governance and inclusive development under the MORE Agenda.

He highlighted ongoing investments in roads and flyovers, health facilities, schools, youth empowerment, agriculture and security, saying they reflect his administration’s determination to improve the wellbeing of the people.

The governor also pointed to improvements in workers’ welfare, peacebuilding initiatives and targeted social programmes for widows, women and youths, which he said have helped to stabilise communities and stimulate economic activity across the state.

Looking ahead, Oborevwori assured that the 2026 budget makes strong provisions for infrastructure, job creation, education, healthcare and agriculture to drive sustainable growth and shared prosperity. He pledged that no community would be left behind.

The governor urged citizens to continue to support government efforts and uphold peace, tolerance and unity, while wishing all residents a joyful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

“Christmas reminds us of hope and the triumph of light,” he said. “As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, let us work together to build a stronger and more prosperous Delta State for present and future generations.”
