Cleric hails Oborevwori’s governance as ‘Divinely ordained,’ foundation for a “New Delta”

OREROKPE, Delta State – Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration is building a sustainable foundation for a transformed state through deliberate institution-building and people-centered projects, according to a Catholic priest’s public assessment on Sunday.

Reverend Fr. Peter Awharemuire of St. Williams Catholic Church, Orerokpe, made the remarks during a 70th thanksgiving mass for Lady Doris Onoriode Ejinyere, which the Governor attended.

In a homily, Fr. Awharemuire described Governor Oborevwori’s emergence as “divinely ordained” and part of a long-term plan. “Leadership is not by power or might, but by the Spirit of God,” the cleric stated, attributing visible progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and security to purposeful leadership.

“This Governor is not just constructing roads, bridges, hospitals and schools; he is building systems in security, education, infrastructure and governance. That is why we say he is creating a new Delta,” Fr. Awharemuire said. He emphasized that the administration’s work is designed to benefit future generations, calling the Governor a “juggernaut” in the state’s political history.

The priest further noted the restoration of public confidence and improved community safety as fruits of the administration’s focus. He urged the Governor to continue leading with “wisdom, humility, and caution,” pledging the Church’s continued prayers.

In his response, Governor Oborevwori congratulated the celebrant, Lady Doris Ejinyere, praising her as a woman of “integrity, strength and unwavering commitment.” He expressed appreciation for the family’s unity and the occasion’s reflection of strong faith and family bonds.

Lady Ejinyere, in her remarks, thanked attendees and specifically commended the Governor, stating his achievements were so evident that “even the blind can see them and the deaf can hear them.”

The event highlighted continued clerical endorsement of the state government’s policy direction amid ongoing infrastructure and security initiatives.
