Delta State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Oviemuno Oghoore, has charged transport operators and commuters to reinforce their safety and health guideline on COVID-19.
The Commissioner gave the charge when he visited some motor parks and transport operators across the state, while checking the compliance level in line with the directives on COVID-19 guidelines.
Oghoore said: “Commuters and some motorists as well as park operators seem to have relaxed their Covid-19 guidelines,” adding that any park or transport operator that undermined the safety rules would be sanctioned accordingly.
In some parks, commuters don’t even wear their face mask before embarking on journey with other passengers, even the supposed buckets of running water and soap are sometimes empty, but just place in their position for sighting by those who care to know.
“We should all endeavor to keep to the safety guidelines, stressing that the relaxation of the Covid-19 lockdown does not signify that the pandemic has totally gone,” the commissioner said.
He enjoined transport operators in motor parks and commuters to join hands with the Government to ensure that the Covid-19 pandemic curve is leveled.
He appealed to commercial and private car owners to always keep to the safety rules on COVID-19 as well as carry the appropriate numbers of passengers.
