Delta Gov. gifts 65 SUVs to traditional rulers

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, on Wednesday presented 65 new Sports Utility Vehicles to traditional rulers across the state.

The presentation in Asaba included 60 Toyota Prados and five Land Cruisers.

Governor Oborevwori described the vehicles as “tools of service,” essential for the rulers’ roles in maintaining peace and stability. He emphasized their function as critical intermediaries between the government and grassroots communities.

“The decision to provide rugged SUVs was deliberate, given the rural and difficult terrains many traditional rulers operate in,” Oborevwori stated. “These vehicles are not luxuries.”

The Governor linked the gesture to his administration’s “MORE Agenda,” citing it as part of a broader policy of inclusive governance.

In response, Chairman of the Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers, the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, HRM Felix Mujakperuo, thanked the governor. He called the intervention timely and said the vehicles would enhance their effectiveness.

The Deputy Governor, Monday Onyeme, said the presentation demonstrated the administration’s respect for traditional institutions.
