The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Delta State chapter in a last minute intervention, this evening, Friday, February 22,2019 has called on its leaders, members and supporters across the three geo political zones in the State, to go out on election day, cast their votes peacefully, resist any form of intimidation and stand bold and firm to defend their votes and ensure that there is no manipulation or sabotage of the electoral process.
This charge was contained in a statement released to the press, by the Delta State PDP Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza, as Deltans prepare to cast their ballot in the rescheduled Presidential and National Assembly elections, slated for February 23, 2019.
Dr. Osuoza said: “The Delta PDP has noted with considerable concern, the increasing spate of attacks, assaults, harassment, false allegations to law enforcement agencies, hate speeches, outright assassinations and attempts on our members, all targeted to achieve the dubious objective of stopping our leaders and loyalists from mobilizing our teeming supporters from coming out on election day to vote for our presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and all our PDP candidates in the Senatorial and House of Representatives elections.
“We hereby strongly and confidently call on all our members, loyalists and teeming supporters to disregard these unprovoked provocations and come out in their numbers to vote massively for the PDP, on Saturday, February 23, 2019.
“We have received authentic information and can authoritatively confirm that nobody will be harassed, molested or frightened into panic and disruption of the process on election day, so we strongly call on all our members to come out en masse to vote for PDP.
“Finally, we charge all our loyalists to follow all the laid down instruction for voting that would be issued by the electoral officers at their polling units, cast their votes in a peaceful and orderly manner, resist any form of intimidation by any suspected hoodlums and impersonators who may be dressed as law enforcement agents, stand firm, bold and with resolute determination, to protect and defend their votes until the ballots are properly counted and authentic results declared.
“We urge all the political parties and actors to play by the rules and ensure that we have an orderly, peaceful, transparent and credible elections.
“We want to emphasise once again that the PDP will not be cowed and no amount of weird, desperate and mindless scheme or plot, will break the valiant resolve of Nigerians to vote PDP candidates at all levels in these elections. Power belongs to the people and the PDP is the Party of the people,” Osuoza stated.
