Security against violent criminal activities in Delta State today, 11/7/2017, received an enhanced boost with the official inauguration of the Intruder Alarm and Public Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Monitoring Centre in Asaba.
The Monitoring Centre was put in place by the Delta state Police Command in conjunction with Sunny Crown Technologies Limited.
Inaugurating the monitoring centre at the Delta State Police command Headquarters, Okpanam Road, Asaba, the Commissioner of police, Mr. Zanna Mohammed Ibrahim said the platform will enhance surveillance and signal reduction in incidences of burglary, robbery, kidnapping, bank insecurity and the forms of violent crimes in Delta State.
Mr. Ibrahim said: “The deployment of CCTV cameras and other forms of intruder deterrence mechanisms in homes and business premises is not new to Nigeria. However, additional values could be added if these existing infrastructures could be put to optimum use by linking same to the police Control Room for continuous monitoring of such areas and responses to distress calls in our neighbourhood and business premises.”
Calling on members of the public to take advantage of the establishment of the monitoring centre by embracing it as public private partners in crime control with police, said participation as individuals, private and public institutions in the scheme would play and integral role in containing the menace of criminals.
This, he further explained, would continually help in creating the awareness required to assist police to respond promptly and precisely to distresses in the nooks and crannies of any locality.
“The police through this platform will help offer ground for public synergy in line with global best practices and access to adequate security towards building a society where crimes can be nipped in the bud before occurrence or successfully detected after occurrence,” the commissioner of Police said.
He also pointed out that security is a collective responsibility in which state and non state actors must partner to tackle the menace of security challenges by placing security cameras in “our neighbourhoods.”
Managing Director of Sunny Crown Technologies Ltd, Mr. Adewale Adetunji Sunday who showed practical workings of the technologies to guests that included traditional rulers, the clergy, journalists, other members of the public took time to explain the workings and value that embracing the technology will provide towards crime control and detection.
