In response to growing security concerns in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and the deployment of tactical teams to various locations in the town to combat rising incidents of kidnapping and armed robbery.
The move follows widespread complaints circulating on social media regarding the deteriorating security situation in Ogwashi-Uku. In a decisive step, CP Abaniwonda has tasked the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, DCP Aina Adesola, with overseeing the deployment, while the Area Commander of Ogwashi-Uku has been directed to coordinate the operation on the ground.

To reinforce security in the area, specialized units, including the Dragon Patrol, Eagle-Net, and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), have been mobilized to strategic locations to deter criminal activities. Additionally, the Command’s Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber-Crime Squad (SAKCCS) has been mandated to relocate to Ogwashi-Uku to execute intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks.
“As part of this operation, operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) have been assigned to conduct undercover investigations and gather actionable intelligence to apprehend those responsible for these crimes,” CP Abaniwonda stated.
The Commissioner reassured residents of the state’s unwavering commitment to ensuring their safety, urging them to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement.
“We understand the concerns of the public, and I want to assure the good people of Delta State, particularly those in Ogwashi-Uku, that we are taking this menace seriously. We are fully committed to making sure criminals have no hiding place,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Edafe Bright, reiterated the Command’s determination to restore peace and security in the area, assuring the public that all efforts are being made to bring perpetrators of crime to justice.
“We urge residents to continue their daily activities without fear, while also remaining security-conscious. Together, we can build a safer Delta State,” he said.
With this renewed security intervention, the Delta State Police Command aims to reassure residents that the fight against crime remains a top priority.
