Delta State Police Command says it has rescued a kidnapped woman and arrested 28 suspects, including a suspected abductor and 27 alleged armed robbers, in separate operations across the state.
Police spokesman, SP Edafe Bright, said operatives from the Agbor Division raided a house in Oza Nogogo community, where they rescued Rebecca Mathew, who had been missing since September 2. The suspect, Bila Halili, 30, of Sokoto State, allegedly destroyed her SIM card and kept her under a hypnotic spell until police intervened.
In another raid on September 9, the Command’s Eagle Net Special Squad, working with the Nigeria Hunters Forest Security Service, stormed a criminal hideout at the Basket Market along the Asaba–Benin road. Twenty-seven suspects were rounded up, with officers recovering a locally made firearm and illicit drugs.

Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, praised his men and security partners for the breakthrough, noting that proactive, intelligence-led policing was yielding results. He urged residents to continue providing credible information to help sustain the fight against crime.
