The Delta State Commissioner for Information, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza, has cautioned employees of the state-owned media outfits to eschew toxic tendencies capable of sabotaging the effective propagation of the MORE Agenda.

Dr Osuoza gave the admonition when board members of the Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS), Asaba, led by their chairman, Hon Austin Chikezie, visited him in his office Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

Reacting to some of the issues raised in the course of the meeting, the information commissioner noted that while occasional frictions were normal in human relationships, particularly in the workplace, employees should not let their misgivings with colleagues hamper their productivity at work.

‘’If you must continue to keep enmity with your colleague, hang it somewhere before you go inside the station to do your job. When you close from work, you can pick it up from the gate and take it to your house’’ he said.
The state’s spokesman further counselled unionists to disabuse their minds from the erronous belief that unionism was synonymous with disruption, stressing that unions were labour unions are primarily established to protect the welfare of members in the workplace.
‘’If you truly love DBS and you are a staff of that station, you will do everything within your powers to generate money for the station. If DBS folds up, God forbid, you would all be redeployed to other places.
‘’I am a grounded unionist but when I see something that is wrong, I say it the way it is’’ he said, adding that he would schedule a meeting with the labour unions in the media house to interface with them.
While commending some exceptional staff of DBS Asaba, Dr Osuoza emphasized the need for discipline in the organization, even as he pledged his commitment to improving the station in line with the MORE Agenda.
He added that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has constituted a high-powered committee to look into the problems of the government-owned media houses and proffer solutions for enhanced productivity.
Earlier, the DBS Board Chairman, Hon Austin Chikezie, congratulated the information commissioner on his appointment, expressing confidence in his capacity to lead the state information machinery.
Hon Chikezie, while briefing the information commissioner on their activities since they were sworn in about four months ago, implored the commissioner to intervene in the upgrade of some of their equipment which was no longer in tandem with modern broadcasting standards.
