Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State.
Delta State Government has expressed disapproval at the rate with which physical structures are being built in contravention of their approved building plans.
A statement signed by the Director of Information, Mrs Theresa Oliko, said the state government had discovered through the ‘Operation Show Your Building Plan’ exercise that numerous property developed across the state, contravened the town planning laws, including not adhering to their approved building plan.
The statement advised land and property developers who intend to put up physical structures to obtain, as a matter of compulsion, their approved building plans from the Ministry of Lands and Surveys and ensure that they build within the provisions of their approved plans.
It warned that structures found to have been raised without obtaining the necessary building permit or seen to have contravened the law, shall face severe sanctions, including but not limited to demolition of the such structures.
