The Minority Leader of the 9th House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu , has called on Christians and Nigerians to reflect on the true meaning of Easter, describing the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the foundation of hope, salvation, and reconciliation between God and humanity.
In his Easter message on Sunday, April 5, 2026, Elumelu said the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, three days after His crucifixion, remains the cornerstone of the Christian faith.
According to him, the resurrection symbolizes the triumph of life over death and light over darkness, offering mankind a pathway to redemption and eternal life.
He stressed that through Christ’s death and resurrection, humanity has been reconciled to God, describing it as the ultimate expression of divine love. He urged Christians to rise above past shortcomings and deepen their faith, noting that the resurrection offers a fresh start filled with hope and grace.
“Elumelu stated that Easter reminds us of the boundless love of God, who sacrificed His only Son for the salvation of humanity. It is a season that calls for deep reflection, renewed faith, and total commitment to righteous living.”
The former Minority Leader also urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayers for peace and security, particularly as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“At this critical time in our national life, we must be relentless in prayers for unity, peace, and stability. We must commit Nigeria into the hands of God, especially as we have entered another election cycle,” he said.
Elumelu further extended prayers for global peace, with particular concern over tensions in the Middle East, warning that instability in the region could have far-reaching consequences for both global and national economies.
He commended the efforts of President Bola Tinubuin steering the nation toward progress, expressing optimism that the administration’s policies would yield positive results.
The lawmaker also praised Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, for his commitment to peace, security, and infrastructural development across the state.
He specifically lauded the commissioning of the 4.8-kilometre Oko Phase 1 Road in Oshimili South Local Government Area, describing it as a clear demonstration of the administration’s dedication to the welfare of the people.
Elumelu called on Deltans to continue supporting the governor as he implements his MORE Agenda with Renewed Hope for the overall development of the state.
