• Okowa to Nigerians: Stop blame game, be prayerful

Persons in authority in Nigeria have been urged to emulate the selfless disposition of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the biblical King David by being accountable and rendering services that will outlive them.

Pastor Charles Osazuwa made the call in a sermon at the Rock of Ages Christian Assembly International (a.k.a RACAi), Benin City during the concluding programme of the church 2017 convention.

The Pastor observed that King David made a lasting impact on humanity and became a reference point for generations and urged those in authority to be selfless in rendering service for such to outlive them.

“David worshipped God, he was not ashamed of worshipping God, he was accountable and humility personified,” he said, adding that for those in authority to succeed, they must be givers and be repentant of their sins.

At the event which featured special prayers for the country, Delta and Edo States and those in government with special songs were rendered to the glory of God, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state who attended the service urged Nigerians to stop apportioning blames about the economic situation of the country but, should rather, seek the face of God for solutions.

“Do not blame President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, Governors or those in government for the recession being faced by the country because, your prayers can change anything in this nation, God can deliver this nation through prayers and you should work hard,” Okowa said.

While giving testimonies of how God is changing the situation of things in Delta State from a state which witnessed “theatre of battle at the creeks,” to a state that is peaceful with speedy economic recovery, Governor Okowa emphasized that it is only God that can change the fortunes of the country.

“The church should continue to pray for us as a nation. When things get rough, Christians should not lose hope, they should get on their knees and cry to our Lord; there is no situation that God cannot change,” he said, reiterating, “even as you pray for the nation and those in government, you will be blessed.

“Please, don’t complain, pray continuously because, we are sick as a nation and when the nation is sick, it affects all of us, but, I believe that as we pray, the Lord will hear us, He will heal our land and make us prosper.”

Governor Okowa who was accompanied by some of his commissioners to the event, congratulated the church for its successful programme, noting that “there is always something new to learn when one attends church service, if we truly give ourselves to God.”
